Terms of Use

Last updated: September 2026

1. What UniBin Is

UniBin ("we," "us," "the platform") is a resource-sharing platform for verified students at supported Malaysian universities. It lets students upload, browse, and discuss study materials — including notes, assignments, and past exams, quizzes, and tests — organized by university and module.

By creating an account or using UniBin, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Rules & Guidelines and Privacy Policy.

2. Who Can Use UniBin

  • You must have a valid email address from a university UniBin currently supports, and that address must be verified during signup.
  • You must be enrolled at, or otherwise affiliated with, the university tied to your account.
  • One account per person. Impersonating someone else or creating multiple accounts to evade a ban is not allowed.
  • If you don't meet these requirements, don't create an account.

3. Your Account

  • You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account.
  • You can request account deletion at any time. See our Account Deletion page for exactly what happens and when.
  • We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms or the Rules & Guidelines. See Section 6.

4. Content You Post

You own what you upload. Posting content to UniBin doesn't transfer ownership to us. By uploading or posting content, you grant UniBin a license to host, display, and distribute that content to other verified users of the platform, for as long as your content remains on UniBin.

Sharing past exams, quizzes, and tests is explicitly allowed. UniBin exists for this purpose. We don't treat previously-administered academic materials as prohibited or "leaked" content. That said:

  • You're responsible for making sure you have the right to share what you upload, and for complying with your own university's academic integrity policies. UniBin is a neutral platform for sharing materials — we don't verify permission from instructors or vet content for compliance with any specific university's rules before it's posted.
  • Content that infringes someone else's copyright (e.g., a scanned textbook, paid course materials you don't have rights to redistribute) is not allowed and can be reported and removed. See Section 7.
  • Content must otherwise follow our Rules & Guidelines.

We don't vet content for accuracy. Study materials, notes, and exam content shared by other students are not reviewed or verified by UniBin before being visible. Use your own judgment.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Post content that violates our Rules & Guidelines (harassment, hate speech, spam, malware, impersonation, non-consensual sharing of someone's private information, or illegal content)
  • Attempt to access another user's account or private data
  • Interfere with the platform's operation (e.g., attempting to overload our systems, bypassing rate limits or security measures)
  • Use automated tools to scrape or mass-download content without our permission
  • Manipulate the points, badge, or leaderboard system through fake accounts, vote manipulation, or similar means

6. Moderation & Enforcement

UniBin has moderators and administrators who review reported content and can remove content, issue warnings, or suspend/ban accounts for violations of these Terms or the Rules & Guidelines. Enforcement decisions are made at our discretion. If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, contact us at support@unibin.app.

7. Copyright

If you believe content on UniBin infringes your copyright, email support@unibin.app with:

  • A description of the copyrighted work
  • The location of the allegedly infringing content on UniBin (a link, if possible)
  • Your contact information
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use isn't authorized

We'll review and remove infringing content where appropriate.

8. Points, Badges, and Rankings

UniBin includes a gamified points/badge system (e.g., "Apex Binner," leaderboard rankings). These have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash or prizes, and may be reset, adjusted, or removed at our discretion.

9. No Warranty

UniBin is provided "as is." We don't guarantee the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that content shared by other users is accurate, complete, or safe. You use UniBin, and any content you find on it, at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UniBin and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to academic consequences resulting from your use of shared materials in violation of your own institution's policies.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of UniBin after a change means you accept the updated Terms. We'll try to give reasonable notice of significant changes.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
