Rules & Guidelines
Last updated: September 2026
UniBin is built for students to share and find study materials with people at their own university. These guidelines keep it useful and safe for everyone. Breaking them can lead to content removal, warnings, or a ban — see "What Happens If You Break These Rules" below.
What UniBin Is For
Sharing anything that helps you and other students study: lecture notes, assignments, study guides, and — yes — past exams, quizzes, and tests are welcome here. UniBin doesn't treat previously-administered exam content as off-limits or "leaked." Sharing what you have access to, to help others study, is exactly what this platform is for.
You're responsible for following your own university's academic integrity policies when it comes to how you use what you find here — that's between you and your school, not something UniBin polices.
What's Not Allowed
- Harassment or hate speech — targeting someone based on who they are, threats, bullying, or discriminatory content
- Spam — promotional content unrelated to academics, repeated unwanted messages, fake engagement
- Malware or harmful files — anything that could damage someone's device or compromise their security
- Copyright infringement — full textbooks, paid course materials, or other content you don't have the right to redistribute (this is different from sharing your own notes or past exams — see above)
- Impersonation — pretending to be someone else, or creating fake accounts
- Sharing someone else's private information without their consent (their photos, contact info, personal details) in a way that could harm or embarrass them
- Explicit, illegal, or otherwise inappropriate content
- Gaming the points/leaderboard system — vote manipulation, fake accounts, or other ways of artificially inflating your standing
- Posting in the wrong module or course — mislabeling content to get more visibility
Reporting Content
If you see something that breaks these rules, use the Report button on the file, post, or comment. A moderator will review it. Reports are confidential — the person you report won't know who reported them.
What Happens If You Break These Rules
Depending on severity, we may:
- Remove the specific content
- Send you a warning
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently ban your account
Moderators and admins (marked with a badge on their profile) make these calls. If you think a decision was made unfairly, email support@unibin.app — we don't yet have a fully automated appeals system, but we do read and respond to every appeal request.
